Women’s Ministries: Connecting Women

Quench

Quench is about the 3 C’s of life – coffee, calories and crafts.

Come along and meet new friends, explore your creative side and have two hours to yourself while your under 5’s are being looked after. On every second Tuesday of School term at HBC, from 9:30-11:15am.

Cost is $5 and include crafts. Checkout our facebook page here to see what we create in a single morning and to see the faces of some of the people you can meet there.

Check out the Quench Facebook page here.

Gingerbread House Night

Although we can’t stop the men from coming, we must admit that when we hosted our first Gingerbread Night in 2010 – we were hoping that it would just be a bunch of woman – and it was and it was truly memorable night – we have found non-collapsing houses this year.

So keep an eye out for when tickets go on sale in November for our 2011 Gingerbread House Night.

Prayer/Support/Mentoring

As women we can sometimes feel that we are going it alone.

Connecting Women is all about getting alongside women in any-way we can.

There are a number of ways we can do this through:

Resources:

Our Family Ministries Director Raewyn Prendiville is also on the Parenting Place team as a visiting lecturer/seminar host and she has accordingly amassed a HBC library of books and resources covering topics from parenting, surviving divorce, post natal depression – take the time to chat with her about material that may be helpful. She can also let you know of practical courses being offered at the Parenting Place.

Support:

Every other Tuesday (when Quench is not on) we run a quite morning tea for any mums or carers who are in need of a chat, a bit of prayer and a chance to have a sounding board. This is a chance to let us know how life is for you and for us to find out if there is any-way we can lighten the load for you. For some mums we’ve been able to provide a much needed break from home (through the provision of baby-sitting) for others it has been the provision of a safe person to talk to when life feels like it is all getting too much. For others it has been about linking them with one of our young-mums coffee groups.

Mentoring: Mentoring for HBC Women:

This is a way of growing – of creating spaces in our lives in which we very deliberately seek to grow in God and/or seek to support others as they grow in Him.
Mentoring is not counseling – your personal issues from the past are not the main focus, though of course these may well come up as you seek ways forward.

The content of what is talked about in mentoring might range over many areas in your life but will focus on increasing maturity in Christ.

For more info about being mentored or being a mentor contact Raewyn.

Mentors for Mums, Dads or Carers:

Fresh Perspective HBC offers family mentoring through the Fresh Perspective Program. If you are in need of support as a mum or guardian we may be able to help you with a trained family mentor.

Contact Nadine (HBC community worker) on 625 5705 or visit the Fresh Perspective website.
