So you are asking the question: What can I do to Change Lives:
There are three pathways you can take that could enable us to help you try and figure this out:
-
The first pathway is about connecting - this may be the first step in you finding a place to belong and to meet others to share the journey with and get an idea of the part you can play in what we are HBC are doing.
-
Our second pathway is about Growing by allowing yourself to be challenged and encouraged in your understanding of Jesus and allowing him to transform you.
-
Our final pathway is about Serving - we believe everyone who chooses to follow Jesus is called to serve Him and others using the gifts and skills they have. We believe, whether you know it or not – there are things that you can do, that no one else can do quite like you can do it.
Following are links and listings of the many ways that you can do to significantly lighten the load in all that we do……
But, probably the best place to start is by asking yourself a few simple questions:
- Where do my interests lie?
For example do you like working with children or serving behind the scenes, are you good at painting, drawing, cooking, do you like admin…..
- How much time do you have to spare?
The best service is sustainable service, knowing the demands of the area you are offering to serve in, is vital for sustainability.
- Is my service about helping/supporting HBC works, or is it about developing a heart for a particular ministry?
Some of us help because there is a need that we can and we want to fill it and that is great, but at times God is wanting to lead us into a particular area of service, a specialized area and if this is the case you may want to explore who is working where, and with whom.
- Do I work better in a team or on my own, is this something I want to do, or could I do this with my small-group?
Some of us work better on our own, some of us thrive in a team, there are opportunities at HBC to do both. For example if you wanted to work with refugees then joining with a group of HBCers already supporting families, may be better than going it alone.
