Hillsborough Baptist Church (HBC) is a diverse suburban church family learning how to ‘do life’ together. Our vision is ‘Growing Passionate Followers of Jesus’.
We have a wonderful heritage of charismatic renewal and of mission, particularly sending out and supporting those who receive a God-given call to overseas communities.
We are also rediscovering that the mission field begins at our front door and over recent years have greatly increased our involvement in the local community while continuing our commitment to overseas mission.
HBC is a family of people enjoying a broad mix of age groups and cultural backgrounds, with excellent children’s programs and youth groups, through to family and older community groups.
The Hillsborough/Mt Roskill community has changed significantly over the nearly 60 years we’ve been here – there is a changing of the generations with young families moving into the area, many as immigrants from India and Asia. HBC is starting to become more multicultural, something which we are both excited to see and keen to nurture.
We have a history that includes powerful local evangelism, deep experience of the work of the Holy Spirit and high rates of congregational involvement and ministry.
